Using Reddit to get 10,000 new listeners

Right... No, left... Shit
The Image of Inspiration

I recently tried out an experiment using Reddit to get new listeners. It worked brilliantly, getting over 10,000 new listeners in just a few hours. Just in case you’re not familiar with the social news site reddit, here’s a quick overview: Users submit content and other users vote on that content, they can upvote it to say they like it or downvote it to say they don’t. Content with more upvotes becomes more visible and will get more views. This creates a cascading effect. Content with more upvotes gets more visibility, which means it gets more upvotes and even more visibility. Users can also leave comments on submitted content. These comments go through the same upvoting…

The guitar, singing and performing has been a big part of his life for a long time and now he’s making his living through his music, regularly touring through Germany. Choosing your location. Germany felt like the best place to be for this genre. There’s a…

Funding the Next Album Through Kickstarter

Prylosis

Local Sacremento band Prylosis got creative, using crowdfunding website kickstarter to raise over $2,000 for mastering and distribution of their second album. I spoke with bassist Jeff about how they made this a success and how other local bands can make the most of their own crowdfunding campaigns. Using crowdfunding bands can reverse the traditional business model. Bands have the opportunity to sell their product before it’s been produced and then use the money raised to create it. They just need to pull in the supporters to help them meet their goal. Kickstarter is a popular example of a crowdfunding system. Prylosis had already started pulling together a new album but needed funds to help get them across…
